This course will update the learner on the status of current research, prevention and what we have come to understand about the Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. We will also explore the most current statistics and revisit the definitions and symptoms.

Objectives:

Upon completing this course the learner will be able to:

1. Define HIV and AIDS.
2. Discuss the successes and failures of the current research on prevention.
3. Identify how we are working to prevent HIV through education.
4. List common symptoms of HIV and AIDS.
5. Discuss the current trend through statistics.
6. Discuss the Florida laws regarding confidentiality.
